As the International Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting ends in Korea, anti-whaling nations emerge victorious. The commission firmly rejected the Japanese government proposal that would have seen a return to commercial whaling.

Brazilian TV presenters about to award the 'Golden Chainsaw' to soya king Blairo Maggi

 

Thanks to the over 30,000 international web supporters who voted in our web poll, Blairo Maggi, the world's biggest soya farmer and governor of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, was awarded the 'Golden Chainsaw Award' by Greenpeace last week.

A clear winner with over 37 per cent of the vote, Maggi came ahead of Brazilian President Lula da Silva, recently criticized for failing to stem the level of deforestation in the Amazon rainforest.

Legal challenge to protect dolphins

We returned to the High Court to challenge the government over its failure to prevent the deaths of thousands of dolphins every year.

The hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice resumed after being adjourned in July. The Judge has now heard all the evidence and now we're waiting for a verdict.

Exciting news has reached our whale embassy! The plans for the proposed whale meat factory have been shelved days before the International Whaling Commission (IWC) is due to meet.

The decision was reported in a South Korean newspaper and is a courageous move by the government.

Teams of Greenpeace volunteers took action this morning to disrupt sales of some of the most gas guzzling 4x4s on sale at Land Rover dealerships in seven major cities across the UK. The activity kicked off the first national day of action against 4x4s.
