VIDEO: The Rainbow Warrior III comes to London

Posted by mollybrooks - 25 November 2011 at 1:27pm - Comments

On 12 and 13 November, we invited the supporters who helped fund the Rainbow Warrior III for a special tour of the new ship.

Thanks to all those who came and made it a very special day - and thanks to all those who donated but couldn't make it on the day.

I'm very sorry to have missed the launch and felt very emotional watching the vid...what a beauty indeed!! I often feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall regarding trying to 'save' the planet but seeing so many other supporters lifts the spirits and gives hope...GO ON THE GREENPEACE!!!!

It was so inspiring and uplifting to stand on the deck of this beautiful and magnificent vessel. I had to wipe a tear from my eye - as did the chap standing next to me. Congratulations to all who have been involved in every stage. We'd have loved to have seen below deck but appreciated that this may not have been a practical proposition with so many visitors coming. Is there perhaps a video tour of the vessel and its facilities? Many thanks for the invitation!

Thank you for the video . The most beautiful boat , just wish my Dad , a great sailor and supporter could have seen it . All the very best for safe voyages and thank you for all the great work you do .

Awe inspiring! Breath taking! Utterly inspiring! All comments which come to mind. Especially reading through the messages left on this comments page. Brings tears to my eyes as I read them. This is one fight that we are going to win! Make no doubt about that! When people-power around the world comes together, as shown by the building of this ship, it becomes unstoppable. This is what this ship represents. Rainbow Warriors across the World unite! We are on the warpath now to save this planet!

Living in the North West, I didn't go to see her.

I've just watched the video and it brought a tear to my eye and a knot to my stomach. What an incredible vessel. What a privilege to be a small part of her reality. New hope.

This was a wonderful experience and I hope inspirational to more people to become supporters.I was amazed and delighted at the interest shown by so many. When I joined Greenpeace 22 years ago we held car boot sales, did 10 mile sponsored walks, and there was very little else we could do.How I envy the crew etc;able to become more involved.

GOOD LUCK,

inspiring and beautiful, long may she sail the great seas and oceans protecting mother earth from the wrath of man , go greenpeace xxx

Thanks Greenpeace.  She's obviously a wonderful ship.  If you come to Scotland I hope we'll get a chance to see her too.  best wishes and good luck

Was sorry not to be able to be there in person, so thankyou for the video. I feel honoured to have been able to contribute to this wonderful, beautiful ship. My thanks also to the brave & committed people who take her on her journeys - together you give us hope.

I missed it too.

It says VIDEO: on this page, but I'm not seeing a video anywhere. ???

Oh well, glad it all went well :)

Thank you so much for sharing the experience via this video.  Sadly I was not able to make the event in the end but it's wonderful to see the new Rainbow Warrior and hear the enthusiasm of her supporters as well as that of the Greenpeace team.  Keep up the fantastic work! I look forward to hearing of the ships exploits and the difference she is certain to make throughout the coming years.

If for any reason you are unable to see the video on this site you can go to You Tube and watch it at the link below:

Visiting the ship was an emotional moment for me - it carries the hopes and values of thousands of wonderful, caring people and it was a joy being among them on the open days in Docklands. Thanks so much to everyone who contributed with time, money and courage to support its work.

Thank you for this video. I couldn't get to visit her, so it's great to see what my small donation has helped to achieve - what a beautiful sight when she's under sail.

Thanks for this video.  Like many others, I wasn't able to make it on the day, so it was great to see Rainbow Warrior III sailing up the Thames - even if it was on film!  It makes me proud to be a Greenpeace supporter x

It is difficult to donate as one would wish to in today’s economic climate, but collectively our little family still do as much as we can. Visiting this beautiful vessel, funded entirely by donations, makes it clear that it really matters. It was a lovely day & we are very proud to have been a tiny part of its creation. Long may she harass and infuriate the polluters and their kind… Trevor, Binita & lil’ Malli.

She's a truly beautiful ship - and good too! (good, beautiful and true..) Sorry I couldn't be there and great to see the video - thanks Greenpeace for being there - my commitment is less unnecessary christmas presents and a bigger donation to Greenpeace...

I felt so emotional actually being aboard the Rainbow Warrior I could hardly speak.  I remember shaking a tin for Greenpeace over twenty years ago on the streets of London and have watched the organisation grow from strength to strength,  I wish everyone at Greenpeace all the luck in the world.  There is an enormous job to be done but if anyone can help us Greenpeace can.

Thank you.

Thanks for the video - inspirational! I was abroad and missed the London visit so it was great the see this so vividly.

Hello Paul, Supporters Services answer every single e-mail request that Greenpeace UK receives but it sometimes takes us a little while as we get so many.  If you didnt get a reply to your e-mail it could be because you sent it to an old e-mail address?  They've recently changed so please contact us again using the "contact us" information and links on our web site.

My daughter Anya (10) and I went up to see the ship, it took us 3 hours to get to london due to works on the rail line, but we were determined to see the Rainbow Warrier III, and it was totally worth it.  A beautiful ship, and a magnificent achievement!

It makes all the stalls and events we and all the other active supporters and Key activists do in our home town worth it, when we see what we can achieve together! Well done everyone and well done Greenpeace!

Amazing ship,  feels good to know that lots of us are all doing our bit to look after this beautiful planet and all the lovely animals, hopefully more than those who are intent on harming it. WELL DONE greenpeacers

Paul Day- shame on you.You cancelled your standing order donation because you wern't satisfied with the tour, and didn't get a reply to your e mails? How very petty. "Supporters" like you are worthless, you are no loss to Greenpeace. Good luck to everyone who sails on this ship; you are all so brave. Please keep protecting the whales.

Jacky Westerby, I cancelled my standing order because I got no reply to an email. Ive supported GP for decades with donations and support and the one time I felt a bit hard done by and dared to complain I was ignored. Would have thought GP could have acknowledged receipt? I did eventually get a response which avoided my point that this event was described as a tour of the ship and not just a stroll around the deck.

Supporters like me are a loss to Greenpeace, without them GP wouldnt exist, Im sure you'll support them for years to come. I shall divert my hard earned income to equally deserving causes.

What did you think of the tour?

Brilliant.  May God Bless Her and all who sail in her.

Thanks for this sharing this video with all who couldn't make it on the day. I read one grumpy comment from someone who'd ceased their donation. Well, who else will they give that money to, I wonder? You don't get much out of me but my donation, but I won't stop that, despite the economic situation. I have the greatest admiration and respect for those of you who have the time, energy and conviction to do all the good you do, and long may it continue. Best of luck to Rainbow Warrior III and all who sail in her.

Was in Germany on that week-end and in a way regretted I could see the vessel, thank you so much for posting this video! The ship is a beauty! I am very happy and pleased!  Thank you Greenpeace and all supporters!

Hello Warriors,

A big thank you for letting us aboard your beautiful ship.

We wish you every success in your fight to safeguard our planet

for our children.

P.S. A Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year and may all your waves be small!

Wow! What a beautiful ship - poetry in motion.  So sorry I couldn't have been there. It was lovely and heartwarming to see so many passionate, positive and enlightened people on the video. Very inspiring and emotional to watch, thank you for the footage, its awesome. Thank you Greenpeace, for uniting all our hopes and inspirations into this magnificent, majestic and beautiful ship - looking forward to seeing the future adventures of Rainbow Warrior III unfold:)

Oh, I'm so jealous! I really wanted to attend but ended end up in hospital having an op because I was stupid enough to fall off my bike!!!!!!!!! I've been a member for nearly 20 years and would love to have been there! She looks sooo good! Well done to everyone who in some small part made this happen!

What an amazing experience seeing the new Rainbow Warrier, had a fabulous time and didn't mind queueing as we chatted to some lovely people and the atmosphere was so friendly.  Came away feeling elated and felt my humble donation had done so much good.  Took my daughter who is not a Greenpeace member and she was very impressed, we had a wonderful time.

Sorry Paul Day that you felt so exclusive when there were over 4,000 visitors. Did you really expect a VIP personal tour with an actual crew member in attendance? We were informed well in advance that it would be very busy. Shame they don't have enough staff to reply to all e-mails without one getting missed, must need more donations I suppose. How satisfying must it be to say "I cancelled my sub."..... The youngster whose one word "humbling" summed it up might serve as an example to VIPs.
