Video: The human cost of Heathrow expansion in words and pictures

A lovely short photo essay, examining life in Sipson, the village directly threatened by Heathrow's proposed third runway, and home to the Airplot.

Is there really any purpose for another runway? Surely this is the last thing we need in the current finacial climate and the environmental climate we are in at the moment. The phenomenal costs are sure to dent the government and any businesses involved hugely, for a reason that is simply odd. Afterall, flights both long and short haul have suffered immensly recently due to people being unable to afford it. And the government have turned a blind eye to all the people effected; I'm struggling to se how the people who would inevitably have to move away if this went forward, would be re-homed to. The stresses they'd go through are unjust and unnecessary. Or more accurately, the stresses they've Gone through.
The residents of Sipson have all my sympathy, as helpful as that is, and I'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't follow through. I mean, what if this turns into another terminal 5? It'll be useless! A giant, deserted slab of concrete over what once was a beautiful, well loved and lived-in villiage; as well as acres of english countryside that's becoming endagered rapidly.
