Greenpeace puffins - SOS St. KildaThere is a long tradition on St Kilda of people being given a say on issues that concerned them. That tradition has now been revived, with everyone having the chance to vote on the future of St Kilda.

In London a flock of twenty people representing the St Kilda puffin colony - the largest in the east Atlantic - registered their opposition to new oil developments at the SOS St Kilda polling booth in Westminster.

The first day of voting saw many other people in London give their views on whether oil exploration should take place in the ocean around St Kilda.
