You want it? You got it..

We've heard from an inside source that Angela Merkel the German Chancellor called Prime Minister David Cameron last night in a bid to block a critical law to make cleaner European cars. Ministers were supposed to agree the law today.

Iceland is once again undermining the global ban on commercial whaling

Sorry these pictures are grim, but it's important we get the message out.

This morning, one of our undercover photographers sent pictures showing a magnificent fin whale being harpooned and diced up by an Icelandic ship.

Listen up tweeps, put your Twitter addiction to seriously good use. It's Friday experiment time.

With the help of some volunteers we've pulled together a list of all MPs on twitter. We need to lobby as many of them as we can, to make sure they support the urgent amendment to clean our electricity currently in front of Parliament (here it is in the full geeky details).

Willie our oceans campaigner is keen to tweet pictures of his hippie Lego...

We're trying an experiment.

Over the next six weeks we're going to be giving people across the Greenpeace UK office the ability to tweet directly on our main account. Yes, the Greenpeace UK webteam is giving up control so you get unfiltered, unchecked content from all four, idiosyncratic corners of this wonderful organisation. Which means any number of people can now instantly push out their thoughts to our 36,000+ Twitter followers. What could possibly go wrong?

If there's one fact to remember which underlines the urgency in protecting the Arctic it's this: in 30 years we've lost 75 per cent of the Arctic sea ice.

VW: pioneering anti-social media

After ignoring well over 1,000 comments on its Facebook pages, Volkswagen has found a new tactic: deleting them.

VW: what a social media fail looks like

Posted by jamess - 4 January 2012 at 10:44pm - Comments

What I love about social media is that you can’t fake it.

For all the hundreds of millions of dollars companies like Volkswagen pump into their advertising machines (for VW it’s a cool £1.5bn every year) they can’t crack social media. And that’s down to one simple reason: they fear honesty.

It's the end of the road for one of our campaign legends: Brian.

Only six months ago, Brian was working for the Dark Side - an anonymous Volkswagen employee only concerned with getting through his day job. He took orders from his superiors without questioning them. He did what he was told.

But then – suddenly - everything changed.

If you were poised to be the biggest car company in the world raking in annual profits of £5bn, you think you'd feel pretty confident about yourself.

Even if you felt a little insecure, a cool £1.5bn advertising budget could iron out some of the less-than-savoury aspects of your appearance. Besides, £1.5bn buys a lot of botox.

Sceptic-supported research proves global warming

Big news today for the planet – a huge research project triggered by climate sceptic claims of 'dodgy data' has underlined a key truth: our planet is warming dangerously fast – by a whole degree in the last 60 years.
