Thousands drown every year, as they struggle to untangle themselves from our fishing nets. They don’t die immediately. First they panic, and then they start to thrash around, suffering horrible injuries as they struggle. Eventually, exhausted, they run out of oxygen and die.

And when you think about all the other marine life also swept up, the death toll keeps on growing. Whales, fur seals, fish, albatrosses and turtles are also victims of destructive fishing practices.
