I’ve been involved with Greenpeace since 1985 when I signed up as a paying supporter after the sinking of the original Rainbow Warrior by the French secret service in New Zealand. I very quickly became involved in fundraising locally as that was what local groups did in those days.
Since then the role of the local supporters has changed enormously and as the Network Co-ordinator for Merseyside I currently organise street campaign stalls , peaceful protests at Shell petrol stations and anything else that the local networks can do to help further Greenpeace campaigns.
I have been a Greenspeaker since before we were actually given that name and have spoken to lots of different audiences from schoolchildren to Balfour Beattie management trainees over the years.
I am happy to travel a reasonable distance to talk about Greenpeace , ideally using public transport . I have been as far afield as Stoke on Trent in response to a Greenspeaker request.
I am a retired senior manager with a local Council and therefore have time available during the working week to do Greenspeaker activities.
I care passionately about the future of our wonderful blue planet and I am deeply concerned that many governments, corporations and individuals have their heads in the sand about the seriousness of the issues facing us. As a mother and hopefully one day a grandmother I worry about what we are leaving behind for future generations and I firmly believe that without organisations like Greenpeace the world will never wake up to the dangers facing our planet and humanity.
Outside of Greenpeace I volunteer at a local Animal Sanctuary and have a passion for Geocaching and wildlife photography which takes me out into the countryside on a regular basis.
