AWE campaiging across West Berkshire!

Posted by bpeter_101 - 10 January 2010 at 4:26pm - Comments

Undaunted by the snowy weather, a team of Greenpeace campaigners from across London and the South of England spent Saturday campaiging across West Berkshire to highlight plans to build a new enriched uranium facility at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) Aldermaston.

We visited Reading, Theale, Newbury, Mortimer, Tadley, and Burghfield Common to undertake street surveys about public opinion on proposals to build the new enriched uranium facility and Aldermaston, and give those concerned about the facility the chance to register their objections to the plans.

There was plenty of interest in our survey and support for our work in undertaking consultation on the project which AWE andthe local planning authority have failed to conduct themselves.

Many thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and travelled to join us to help with the survey.
