Greenpeace's Arctic campaign's visited Bracknell this week, with a visit to the Coopers Hill Community Centre at a public meeting hosted by East Berkshire Green Party.
The meeting took the theme of global climate change, with fascinating presentations from author Chris Goodall about the threats climate change poses and from Colin Griffin, Bracknell Forest Council's climate officer, about some of the superb work being done locally to tackle climate change. Peter Burt from Berkshire Greenpeace then gave a presentation about the impacts of climate change on the fragile Arctic environment and Greenpeace's current Save the Arctic campaign. There were lots of thought-provoking questions afterwards, and a robust discussion about whether nuclear power has a role to play in fighting climate change.
Many thanks to Mark and Adrian and all at East Berkshire Green Party for organising the evening. There's another chance to hear the Arctic presentation again soon at our Arctic Evening at Cafe Mondial at the University of Reading on 11 February (6pm start).
If you would like to arrange a local event with a speaker from Berkshire Greenpeace you can find out more here.
