Saturday morning. 8.3O am the alarm rung. I jumped out of my bed. I cannot stay longer in it. Today is too important. I had been waiting for this day since I was 14 years old, I would finally be acting for what I believe in.

I was going to take part in a Greenpeace event. I had been asked to come along relay on social media what was happen. However I had not been told anything about what we would be doing. I feel like a spy on a mission. So exciting!

I arrived in Islington and learned that it was an action to inform people about KFC’s actions. Colonel Harland Sanders (the guy on the KFC’s logo) is no good for the rainforest. KFC's food packagings are made from Indonesian wood, which are being supplied by the Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) company.(http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/blog/forests/kfc’s-secret-recipe-rainforest-destruction-20120523)

With the other people in my group, we set off to collect the materials and practice building the massive bucket. I am so impressed.

For a about an hour we practice assembling and dismantling the bucket and figure out everyone’s roles. This involved taking out of a van two huge wooden structures with a posters on them. I took some pictures and started to tweet.. Everything is done with joy and good humour.

We set off to Whitechapel, let the action begin!  For convenience we assemble the bucket in a car park close to the KFC. We put on our Greenpeace sweaters. To be honest, I was proud to wear it. «  I am wearing a Greenpeace sweater !! That’s awesome !! » It was too big for me but who cares? Two people get in to some orang-utans costumes.

Upon arriving at KFC- Some people go to speak to the manager during which time outside the bucket is set up. We distribute flyers to inform people. It is an occasion to discuss with them what KFC is doing wrong : The public love the apes and take pictures with them. The sun was there. Everyone was happy but not the KFC manager…

After awhile the police arrived and wanted to know what we were doing and decided to let us continue, Perfect !  One of them tried to get his photo taken but wasn’t allowed to by his superior.

After a few hours we packed up and headed off for some well deserved cold beers. I met others volunteers and they shared with me their experiences. It was a beautiful moment for a right cause. This is important and I hope people get the message so that things will change.

If you are interested in our earth and worried about what will happen, I invite you to be a volunteer because it is an amazing experience!! (http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/groups)
