Goblin Combe Woods
We’ve just spent the weekend on a skill share at Goblin Combe Environment Centre. I can’t think of a more appropriate place to spend Halloween than somewhere called Goblin Combe. It’s located in North Somerset and is part of the Forest of Avon.
We slept in the lodge which is a sustainabley built building with bedrooms and toilets that flush on rain water. The excellent vegan food has got to be one of the highlights of the weekend, food that not only tastes good but doesn’t harm the environment or cause climate change.
So what is a “Skill share” exactly? It’s an event normally over a weekend where Greenpeace activists can come together and share skills. It was actually a pretty busy weekend with some interesting and informative walks in the woods and valley which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Other activities included rock climbing and a variety of different workshops.
It was good to meet up with people from other groups to see what they’re up to and how they do things differently to us. Halloween was spent round the camp fire complete with drinks, acoustic guitar and didgeridoo.

The Site of Special Scientific Interest is split into two noticable parts, one is a monoculture wood planted in the 1950's and the other is semi-natural ancient woodland.
