Greenpeace ship "Arctic Sunrise" anchored in Lyme Bay yesterday morning to meet representatives from the Lyme Bay Reserve, local dignitaries and fishermen.  The aim of the trip was to highlight sustainable local fishing practices.

Greenpeace West Dorset, Greenpeace Bristol East and Greenpeace Bath combined to run a stall on Marine Parade looking out to the elegant tub in the bay.  Members of the public folded paper boats to be sent to Richard Benyon, Fisheries Minister, to encourage his adherence to sustainable principles.

Arctic Sunrise then set sail for Fowey in Cornwall yesterday evening.

In the meantime……

at 03.30am this morning in Brussels, a new deal to fix Europe’s broken fishing laws was finally agreed. As Simon Clydesdale describes in the attached blog, it is a mixed bag:

Thanks to Greenpeace West Dorset for looking after us so well, and to the residents and tourists in Lyme for being such origami enthusiasts.

Finally Greenpeace West Dorset made a video referencing a well known film set in the locality.....
