Big Fish Fight

During our January meeting we caught up on Hugh’s Big Fish Fight, originally broadcast at 9pm on Channel 4 on Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 January.

 

The programmes are well worth a watch and are available online for 30 days at:

The first programme shows how half the fish catch in the North Sea has to be thrown back into the sea dead - discard.  The second programme shows how sharks, turtles and rays get caught up in the purse seine nets which supply the majority of tuna to the UK supermarkets.   The final programme examines how farmed salmon requires three times its weight in wild fish to be caught to feed it.
