10th/11th August - Arctic Campaigning at Bristol Zoo
The zoo are happy for us to campaign on several dates inside the zoo and have various Arctic-themed artefacts that may help us attract attention. A small group composed of Carol, Fi and Richard B will be liaising with the Education Department of the zoo on the detail. Potential helpers are Fi, Carol, Paul, Richard B, Natasha, Laurence and possible dates are Fri/Sat 10/11th August, to be confirmed. There is an Arctic Education programme running in 2013 so the opportunities may be ongoing.
18th August – CFP Street Survey College Green
This will co-incide with the Cultural Olympiad bringing the Stonehenge bouncy castle to College Green, Bristol – Carol to co-ordinate.
27th Aug - Newlyn Fish Festival
Richard L, Carol and possibly Cordelia are helping Alicia and Cris from HQ at this event.
1st Sept – CFP Street Survey
Richard B to co-ordinate - location TBD
7th-9th Sept - Green Party Conference
Fi is negotiating with the Green Party and Greenpeace HQ about the hefty cost of having a stall at this event in Bristol.
Report on Activities since last Meeting.
15th June - Film Show at Hamilton House as part of Big Green Week
Fi mentioned that the film show attendance could have been higher but 20 was a respectable number and it was great to meet the local Greenpeace chugging crew. Thanks are due to Richard L for technical genius.
17th June - Widcombe Rising and Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride Fundraising
With our Bath colleagues we raised £1332 at Widcombe Rising and our riders in the Bike Ride have raised approximately £300. Nat mentioned how good it was to meet our Bath Greenpeace colleagues.

23rd June - Shell Action and Arctic Campaigning, Bearpit
Nat reported that the Shell garage manager was pleasant about our peaceful demo but slightly annoyed with the prominent “Shell Out of Order” placard. If we want to campaign in the Bear Pit again, the local traders would like to see us but could we give them advance notice. It was a great turn out from the group with 11 members coming along to help.

29th June - Envision Awards Ceremony
Good to have a stall at this event and meet local sixth-formers who are socially engaged.
30th June - Easton Arts Trail – CFP and Arctic Campaigning
This campaign stall went OK and added to the fun of the Arts Trail with a polar bear and a fish. We were however slightly hampered by rain showers and the need to shelter in the Thali Café and drink chai.

Review of Campaigns and Materials so far for Feedback to HQ: Fi collected comments on Shell, Arctic and CFP campaigns.
Arctic: Richard B reported that as of start of meeting, there are 776, 000 names on the Arctic Scroll to be delivered to the North Pole! http://www.savethearctic.org/
CFP: Richard B and Carol are continuing to visit local restaurants/fish shops to offer them Fisherman’s Friends materials if they are making best efforts to be sustainable.
NVDA: There will be an opportunity for Non Violent Direct Action Training in Bristol on Saturday October 27th contact Richard Richard Lancaster (01275 790538 / 07505 990593) r.lancaster@blueyonder.co.uk if you are interested
Admin: After above events, we now have approx 1743 CFP fish petition cards for MEPs. Fi, Nat, Sue and Carol are sorting out a mutually convenient date to look-up MEP names and write/stamp cards ready for delivery.
Venue: The Cornubia landlord and lady have bought the freehold to the pub and are turning the meeting room into a private lounge. The meeting room is therefore unavailable for hire after December 2012. Mark is looking into alternative meeting venues and is waiting to hear back if Friends Meeting House (River Street) is available 2nd Thursday of the month.
Date of next meeting: Thursday 9th August 2012 – facilitator to be Richard B
