The Europe wide campaign was launched on 28 June involving several Greenpeace offices, including the UK, France, Spain, Belgium, Greece and Germany. The campaign launched with a video http://www.vwdarkside.com/en which explains how VW is blocking necessary action on climate change.  Over 460,000 Jedi have so far signed up to help us turn VW away from the Dark Side.

Weds 7th Dec – Chippenham College

Richard L and Cordelia are running a stall at the Lackham Campus Carbon Roadshow.

Other news from meeting

Welcome to New Members

We started the meeting by doing a few introductions and welcoming in some new faces – Paul, Stacey and Captain Tom from The Matthew.

The Matthew

We expored a few ideas for publicising Greenpeace with the captain.  Cordelia is looking into potential dates but the boat is away between mid-January and August.  There is a great opportunity to give the captain a Greenpeace banner for occasional display on the boat on its travels.  http://www.matthew.co.uk

Rainbow Warrior

Sue, Carol, Laurence and Richard B went down to visit the Rainbow Warrior in London on the weekend after the meeting.  If you didn’t get a chance to go down check out the Guardian video and interactive tour:

And some of our photos can be found here:

NVDA Training

NVDA training went well on the weekend after the meeting.

Other

We heard an update on the ongoing legal proceedings against activists resulting from action at Cairn Energy in Edinburgh in July.

Sue reported back on the Nuclear Consultation event that took place last week in Colston Hall on 9th November – another attendee’s opinion of proceedings can be found here:

http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/groups/bristol-east/blog/nuclear-communities-listen-and-be-heard

Richard L provided a useful update on Greenpeace actions worldwide.

Paul gave us some useful feedback after having encountered a Greenpeace Bristol stall earlier in the summer.    We need to try and read briefings thoroughly because, although 95% of public only want to hear the basic facts about campaigns, 5% of the public want a bit more depth on the issues.

Finally, collecting tins are available for shops – if you know of a suitable venue,  ie, a friendly shop or restaurant contact Richard L.

Next meeting is at Cornubia on Thursday 8th December at 7:30pm http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/groups/bristol-east/event/bristol-greenpeace-east-meeting-thursday-8th-december

That just about covers it, please add a comment below if anything missed.
