We had a impressive turnout of volunteers for our first 'I ♥ Arctic' street campaign during today's lunchtime break. Big thanks for those hardy souls who braved the near sub zero temperatures to encourage those passing by to stop and have their picture taken and add their name to the 2.8 million people who want the Arctic to be protected from commercial development. The icy breeze certainly didn't make it the easiest of tasks to persuade people to stop and support the campaign. However, a good many Bristolians were were enticed by Paula the Polar Bear and Nigel(la) the Narwhal, along with an 'I ♥ Arctic' speech bubble and stickers to have their pics taken. It was a good opportunity to try out the ipad for sign-ups as well as the other resources before the big 'I ♥ Arctic day scheduled for Saturday 20th May at Bristol Zoo. Here's hoping the weather will be a good deal warmer on that occasion!
Well done Carol, Sue, Fi, Loz, Ellie (and son), Madeleine and Richards L and B for a successful campaign session. 32 sign ups is good going for 90 mins activity.
