Wot! No meeting agenda?

Being a member of Greenpeace is not just about planning meetings and getting the campaign message across to the public and media.  There is so much to be gained by meeting new friends who have a similar interest than you.  I must admit that every time I meet up with Bristol East Greenpeace members and friends I come away with such a warm feeling of camaraderie - regardless if we are in a busy monthly meeting or out on a street campaign.

Last night members and friends/partners met for our New Year social at one of the Thali Restaurants in Bristol.  It was a chance to celebrate the achievements of the past year and muster fortitude for the coming challenges we will face in 2013.  It was so good to have a purely social occasion where there was no meeting agenda, no campaign leaflets to give out, no tabards and no furry animal costumes to climb into.  Instead we had good humoured company and chat, excellent food (loved the Kulfi ice cream!) as well as party games afterwards including my Arctic themed Pass the Parcel and a Greenpeace themed game of Buzz prepared by Carol.  At one point one of our newbie members relished cutting up my old Shell Drivers loyalty card which she now has to send to the Shell Driver's Club with a specially downloaded 'Disloyalty Club Form'.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all.  Thanks to Carol for organising it and her post- food hospitality.  Good to hear there is talk of a Spring/Summer social - bring it on!
