Here's looking forward to the bike ride on Sunday 12th June

In our June meeting at 19:30 on Tuesday 14th June we will be hearing how members got on at the Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride which takes place on Sunday 12th June.  Hopefully the sponsor monies will be beginning to flood in so we might have an idea how much money has been raised towards Rainbow Warrior III.

We will also discuss recent campaign efforts relating to European climate targets.

We will then be looking at the rest of the campaign schedule for 2011 plus our regular update on Greenpeace and other environmental topics. Imminent campaign work will include rainforests, oceans and cars.

The venue for the meeting will be provided closer to the date!

A few notes from the May meeting:

Local Groups - Head Office have listened to the preferences of active supporters and heard the message that local groups want to concentrate on campaigning and public outreach.  Lead generation (recruiting new supporters) and fundraising be subsidiary activities.  Greenpeace is also trying to optimize its use of digital communications in winning campaigns.

Oceans - The recent tuna campaign has been very successful with one exception.  Practically every tuna processor except John West has changed their tuna procurement policy.   Greenpeace remain in negotiations with the company on this issue – the latest is here: http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/fishfight

Also see here an amazing story about Selfridges supporting Project Ocean:
