Tuna Update

Morrisons kills more than just tuna

In March Princes and Asda committed to stop using indiscriminate fishing methods which devastate many marine species.  By the end of 2014 all their tinned tuna will be caught by either pole and line or Fad-free purse seine nets.   Fish Aggregation Devices attract turtles, sharks and rays that get scooped into nets along with the tuna.  This dead bycatch is then returned to the sea.

This change in policy is a result of a Greenpeace co-ordinated deluge of emails and telephone calls, and also a number of protesting human sharks outside Princes head office.

This just leaves John West and Morrisons as the only major UK brands still relying on Fads for tuna catches.

So now we are upping the pressure on John Worst.  Using this link  email John West about its continued use of Fads and all those dead sharks it's responsible for.

The story so far can be found under the attached link: http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/blog/oceans/you-did-it-princes-will-indeed-...
