When Bristol East Greenpeace heard that on Saturday 18th February there was to be a Big Wildlife Fair in addition to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery it seemed the ideal opportunity for some campaigning to tell people just how much VW's lobbying activities in Europe are contributing to global warming and endangering the very wildlife celebrated by the event.  Undaunted by the wet weather, ten committed Greenpeace members turned out in two shifts and persuaded 295 members of the public to sign postcards to be sent on to VW senior management.

This action also saw the first appearance of Paula the polar bear, who we hope will be a regular member of the team from now on, and Brian, the trusty Stormtrooper who has left the 'Dark Side' to protect Paula and help Greenpeace to draw attention to VW's very unenvironmentally friendly practices in the European Parliament. A full report on their secret plans can be found on the main Greenpeace website see

A final note. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2012 was won with a brilliant but very sad photo of oiled pelicans from the BP Deepwater Horizon oil disaster of 2010, taken by a photographer who has done a lot of work for Greenpeace.

Words from Fi, and thanks to Fi for organizing, artistic headline pic from Ian!
