Bristol’s leading reputation as a green city will take centre stage this June when it hosts the UK’s first world class festival of sustainable development. Bristol East Greenpeace will be organising fringe events and will be campaigning during the week.
The week starts off with the BIG Street Market with our stall along by the Cascade Steps in St Augustine's Parade. A perfect harbourside location to campaign for reform of the EU's Common Fishing Policy (CFP).
On Thursday afternoon (14th June) we continue the campaign with a Greenpeace stall at the film showing of 'The End of the Line' which is being held at the headquarters of the Triodos Bank at Deanery Road, (BS1 5AS) at 2.30pm. The film examines the devastating effects of overfishing and puts the case for action. Charge £4.50. During the evening we have our monthly meeting at The Cornubia starting at 8.00pm.
BIG Green Friday (15th June) is being organised by Hamilton House (80 Stokes Croft, BS1 3QY) and Bristol East Greenpeace have organised two film events at 3.00pm and 7.30pm. In the afternoon we will be showing the film '40 Years of Greenpeace' and in the evening we will show' Mind Bomb'. These will be accompanied by short films involving recent and current Greenpeace campaigns. A great opportunity to find out more about the organisation and meet members of the local group.
