A successful weekend at a busy Habourside Festival resulted in 328 signatures for current campaigns against Mattel and Tar Sands.

Mattel:  175 members of the public signed letters requesting toy manufacturer Mattel to change their packaging material source away from Asia Pulp and Paper.  Basically, this company destroys the Indonesian rainforest to provide toy manufacturers like Mattel, Hasbro and Disney with material for their 'throw away' packaging.  Click here for more information and opportunity to sign an online letter to Mattel.

Tar Sands: Oil products derived from the environmental disaster zone of Tar Sands, Alberta, Canada is already reaching EU markets albeit in small amounts.  Greenpeace are concerned that the go ahead of new pipelines will lead to more of the dirty stuff arriving in the EU.  It was therefore good to note that 138 people felt compelled to sign cards to register their opposition.  Extensive background information to Tar Sands can be found here.

Big thank you to all those who helped out, especially Wilf who was campaigned all weekend.
