Bristol Greenpeace attended two events in Bristol and Bath last weekend - The Schumacher Society's Centenary Festival held at the Colston Hall and the Love Food Festival held in Bath. Very different events, but both generated healthy support for our campaigns on the Common Fisheries Policy and Tar Sands.
Having a stall at a conference event meant that delegates had little time between sessions to think about writing letters to David Cameron on the CFP so more people were inclined to sign cards to support the EU ban on Tar Sands products.
Love Food at Green Park was a more leisurely affair, made more enjoyable by the foodie treats on offer and the constant smell of curries, sausages and the like wafting in our general direction.
We ended up with 184 cards signed supporting the Tar Sands ban in Europe and 46 more letters supporting the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy. Thanks due to Wilf, Mark, Richard, Alice and Marina for their time and energy.
It was interesting to note that 'fracking' seemed to be a hot topic for discussion at both events - there is obvious concern out there over this controversial method of obtaining gas.
