NOTE the great leap forward on the European Union’s[EU] Common Fisheries Policy [CFP] with the Parliamentary Plenary [Members of the European Parliament =MEPs] meeting 6th February 2013 adopting the Fisheries Committee reforms of 15th December 2012 by:502 voting for, 137 against & 27 abstaining.
THIS made all that street campaigning May to September 2012 “in the fish” & on the many stalls very worthwhile.[7,500 fish cards signed]!
These new measures of reform still need confirmation from the tripartite negotiations ie [EU Parliament MEPs; the EU Council states Fisheries Minister =Richard BEYNON MP for the UK; and the European Commission].
The Irish President of the EU has committed to achieving these reforms to the CFP before his term ends in June 2013.
WATCH THIS SPACE – we still need to do more, especially with UK quota distribution.
