Volkswagen is lobbying against critical environmental laws

So Volkswagen organised a conference on Ibiza for some 12,000 sales people from 50 countries and mysteriously Greenpeace's invite must have got lost in the post!  VW party in Ibiza?  Well you're not going to stop Greenpeace gatecrashing this one and give up the opportunity to drum home the message that VW needs to clean up its act.  An excellent chance to show VW some nifty moves.  These included, banner drops in strategic places , Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers, road stencils  (see picture above) and giant publicity balloons,  Our message that VW has the technology to reduce CO2 emissions from its range of cars was well received by VW employees. Hopefully they will be asking their bosses questions about how good their products could be.  It does seem incredibly two-faced that Volkswagen is lobbying against EU laws to reduce carbon emissions in the car industry while at the same time telling its employees that their models are carbon efficient.  In reality only 6% of VW's sales include the Blue Motion technology at an additional price of £1,000.   Click here for more details of how volunteers got on in Ibiza.   The video highlights the international co-operation on this campaign.

And now it is our turn to help Volkswagen turn away from the Dark Side!

The campaign continues on the streets of the UK.

Following 3 months of campaigning involving over 443,000 emails and phone calls, over 1 million views of the spoof VW: The Dark Side video, direct action at dealerships over a weekend in September and continual pressure from Greenpeace's offices, Volkswagen has remained stubborn to improve its environmental credentials.  So from the weekend 19th/20th November the campaign capitalises on its grass roots supporters who are asked to set up their stalls and organise events to gain public support to encourage VW to play a more active part in reducing car emissions.  Posters, campaign leaflets, action cards and hopefully ‘Join the Rebellion’ car stickers will be sent out to groups along with Star Wars Stormtrooper suits.  It is anticipated that local campaigning will continue over the winter months.

Film Competition - Vote for your favourite entries.

Volkswagen says it's an eco-friendly company, but it's lobbying against the laws we need to stop climate change. Greenpeace International challenged film makers from around the world to help expose the real VW.  Over 80 short films were received as a result of the 'See Volkswagen Differently' film competition.  The public will be encouraged to vote for their favourite films.  But, have you voted for your favourite yet?  If not then click here to see the high quality of entries.
