It's Ofiicial - Ken has dumped Barbie as he has found out that she is ultimately trashing the rainforests of Indonesia - that habitat of orang utans and the rare Sumatran Tiger. Ken has been understandably shocked at the news as can be seen in the video below. Greenpeace has also got in on the act and has 'dumped' Barbie in a bid to highlight this environmental crime.
But is Barbie solely to blame? The finger points to toy manufacturer, Mattel, who buys their packaging from Asia Pulp and Paper (APP). Critical wildlife habitat and carbon-rich rainforests and peatlands are being wrecked by APP to supply cheap throw away packaging.

So Greenpeace activists have been dumping Barbies too! Hundreds of them have been strategically placed around the country and there are over a dozen in and around Bristol courtesy of Bristol and Bristol East Greenpeace. You can use a location map to track down these delinquent dolls. Click here. If you find a doll, then take it home and await instructions on how to use your Barbie to help stop Mattel from trashing rainforests for toy packaging. Don't forget to send a message to Mattel to persuade them to change their packaging supplier to a company that does not destroy virgin rainforest. Click here to act now - this link also gives you more information about the evidence against Asia Pulp and Paper. Be aware that Disney, Hasbro and Lego are also implicated!
NOTE: APP is part of the Sinar Mas Group who last year agreed to source palm oil using sustainable methods instead of destroying the rainforest following relentless pressure from successful Greenpeace campaigning. We can do it again!
