Kumi Naidoo and Melina Laboucan Massimo launch RWIII

Those who commit crimes against the environment - be aware!  Yesterday (14th October) the brand new Rainbow Warrior III was officially launched in Bremerhaven, Germany,  The Executive Director of Greenpeace, Kumi Naidoo, christened the world’s first purpose-built, crowd-bought, eco-sleek sailing vessel, the new Rainbow Warrior.  Bristol Greenpeace raised £1,000 towards the new hi-tech campaign ship.

Also at the naming ceremony was Melina Laboucan-Massimo from the Cree First Nation, Northern Alberta, Canada. She is the Godmother of the ship. The Rainbow Warrior prophecy (that the ship is named after) comes from Indigenous nations in North American, like the Cree.  Her emotional speech can be read here.

Rainbow Warrior plans to be in London in November. I will be going up to visit her and will report back here with pictures.
