A first hand account from one of the two Bristol members involved in the direct action at Princes HQBristol Greenpeace salute you!

Liverpool!    Well you get about with Greenpeace!

It was a cold morning and the forecast had been changing from rain to sleet.  I must say I was quite relieved to be encased in grey fur fabric as the clouds made the ships on the Mersey fade.  The wind was flapping the banners that had just been unfurled by the very hardy Greenpeace climbing team.
Activists were braving the weather in Greenpeace tabards and as many warm layers as they could muster. Their role was engaging the staff of the Liver building (Princes HQ) explaining why we were here and what we were doing - oh, and occasionally posing for the inevitable cameraphone photo.
Regularly they exchanged greetings with the tourist bus that came by, much to the surprise of the rather chilly looking tourists.

The banners placards and dead shark flags hanging from the lamposts showed the reason that we were all there on a freezing cold morning in February.  The dreadful waste of sea life that is involved with every tin of tuna produced by Princes.  Their fishing methods stripping the oceans of not just tuna, but turtles, rays and sharks.  Hundreds of species of fish (or bycatch as they call it) are indiscriminately scooped out of the sea and die pointlessly on the ships.

So today I am sweltering (one of the few warm people) in a fur shark costume trying to keep hold of a placard that says "Princes : if you found Nemo , would you kill him too?"  And I am happy because I can do something !  One ordinary middle aged woman can join with other like minded people and bear witness to this criminal waste of the worlds resources.

So Princes are you listening!

(I just hope I don't have a hot flush whilst I am in this suit)
