Beyond Oil in Beckenham

Many grateful thanks to the team who assembled in Beckenham last Saturday to promote our Beyond Oil campaign, we had three from Southwark and one from Wallingham - you know who you are. We managed a very satisfactory 70 signed cards and collected half a dozen names of people interested in joining us locally - as well as an outreach action which meant that several local shops were willing to put our meeting message poster on view. Despite a cold but sunny day, and wearing white oil-dripped suits, the people in Beckenham were welcoming and enthusiastic. Well done to everyone who came along to help (most Bromley members were busy elsewhere) and cards are winging their way to MP's telling them that the Climate is important and that we have to find a way to move 'beyond oil' and towards renewable energy and sensible legislation for emissions standards.....
