Cairn Oil rig - exploring for Oil in the pristine wildrness

Great news just in from Scotland: The defendants in the Cairn trials are celebrating. The first defendant to get through the lengthy trial process was found not guilty on Wednesday Nov 23rd. Following this acquittal, the Fiscal agreed to drop the charges against the other 16 activists, including the extra charge brought against one person.

The action took place earlier in the year when activists boarded the rig and others entered Cairn's Scottish Headquarters - many dressed as polar bears - some in business suits... They were asking to see Cairn's Risk Management Report - or what they would do in the event of an Oil Spill disaster like that in the Mexican Gulf. At that time Cairn refused to release it. Now the Greenland Government have published it ...take a look and see reactions to it here: http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/blog/climate/published-cairns-oil-spill-response-plan-20110815
