Greenpeace Bromley Active Network

Meeting      Tuesday August 18th   2009                   Minutes

Present :  Ann Garrett, Kate Bone, James Furze, Brian Findlay, Roisin Robertson

Apologies: John Littlewood

 Actions:

Thursday 30th July, 4-6pm  Bromley High Street Airplot campaign stall John Littlewood, Sally-Anne Cartwright, Ann Garrett and Roisin Robertson ‘Airplotted’ in Bromley High Street, with 15 sign-ups and promises of more online. Great fun was had by all, thanks to everyone for coming along and taking part and thanks to the people of Bromley too, who mostly humoured us.

Thursday 13th August Brick Lane Greenpeace ‘Street Party’ stall. RR spent a few hours Airplotting in Petticoat Lane, Wentworth Street, London with others from London groups.

Friday 14th Aug U2 Concert Wembley: RR and the rest of the Greenpeace contingent were escorted out of Wembley at the U2 concert. Due to a mix up in communications, that is. Profuse apologies were made – and we ended up with three wristbands – given access to the stage floor and even took part – masked – in support of the Burmese politician under house arrest, Aung San Suu Kyi, on a special circle surrounding the stage with volunteers from the Free Burma campaign, the One charity (Bono’s own) and Amnesty International.

It was decided that with so many upcoming events that we would concentrate on our MP’s research and organising meetings with our local MP’s. KB agreed to contact Bob Neil, MP for Bromley & Chislehurst, to arrange a meeting time and places and a photo-shoot of the Apples hand-over cards. AG had communicated to him about our request for him to become a Beneficial Owner of Airplot.

RR read out a list of MP’s with whom Greenpeace wanted to make contact, and various people offered to contact friends. List to be sent separately.

Events:

Climate Camp: 26th August – 2nd September Not a Greenpeace campaign, but many people have similar aims as those of Climate Camp. Venue to be announced. All welcome, for the whole time, a day or a weekend. Please contact London neighbourhood for camping details etc, to subscribe to the weekly email bulletin, send a blank email to climatecamp-london-bulletin-subscribe@lists.riseup.net (or click here). This is the best way to keep up to date on what's going on in London with a single email a week. Climate Camp on Twitter feed here and Facebook group Here.
