I was just visiting the facebook page of The Croft Tearooms in St Mary Cray, (venue for our Pod Fundraising-raising Lunch on Sunday 26 May - from 12.30) when a posting on their page caught my eye, check it out below.
I wanted to invite you to come and join us for a social occasion in a lovely venue. Please come and visit us for a cup of tea and a sandwich, cake or a hot meal.
We are suggesting a donation to the 'Pod-Fund' of £5, though you do not have to pay this...though please pay for anything you eat or drink directly to the Tearooms. They have a shop there too, where you can buy local honey and there is a selection of items for sale.
I have asked Carol to reserve some spaces for us, however, I would be very grateful if you could let me know what time you will arrive?
I shall have up-to-date information about the Pod campaign - as you may know, the Danish Navy claimed the yellow pod after our recent action against the Gazprom Drilling platform, which hosed our Executive Director, Kumi Naidoo with freezing water while he stayed attached to the rig by ropes. In situations like this, a Pod can provide a dry and warm place for activists to sleep, even when attached to an Oil rig! (me neither!) I’ll tell you my ‘pod’ story when we meet!
What caught my eye on the Tearoom’s site was this:
There are still some places available on the HERITAGE WALK & CREAM TEA taking place this coming Friday (3rd May). We're meeting with our guide, at the Tea Room, at 1:00 pm - we'll then go off for our local guided walk and get back for a yummy cream tea. The price, all included, is just £7.50. A quick phone call will reserve your place.
It’s too late now, for this walk, however I shall be keeping an eye on their site as I would be most interested when they do another… I did some research on the history of River Cray area, mentioned in the Doomsday Book and a place of leather working, meat marketing, cloth making, all powered by the streams – it has Royal connections too…

It would be lovely to see you… and to thank you for your support…
