Just getting ready for another year of taking action for the Planet. The chaos of Copenhagen is behind us, and we muct take comfort from the fact that it happened at all, considering the thoughts and sceptics on the matter even five years ago. We seem to be hitting a chord with the general pubiic, not because we sometimes take risks in their eyes, because they can see what we are sayaing is right..havae you ever looked at the Sun newspaper Green pages? This level of popular interest just wasn't there some time ago.
Campaign Against Climate Change, Climate Camp, Rising Tide, Plane Stupid and many other protest groups - Climate Rush - all now work in their own ways with the same message.
And there are new challenges, BP continues to drill for oil (this time in Brazil), Tar Sands, Indonesian REDD payments and palm oil plantations, the lack of Blue fin Tuna and the collapse of the fishing stocks (see the 'End of the Line' film was on Channel 4), where it was discovered that China figures had been inflated so when the real count came out, there were just not as many fish. Or where business traded fishing rights with indigenous populations, who now do not have enough - partly due to changes in the eco system because of overfishing or bad fishing methods.
The threat of New Nuclear Power stations, polluting for millions of years and propped up by a change in planning laws so we cannot protest, taxpayers money, all funds diverted from promoting renewables - and the irony in the US where there is a motion to include Nuclear fuel as 'renewable' to get the tax dollar funding - aaagh
So there is still lots to do, lots to find out about and lots to talk about. The first step is to come to meet us and discuss your point of view. There are many roles to play and all contributions are most welcome.
