A few of us were lucky enough to be campaigning to the U2 concert crowd, I was to be on the 14th August slot.
I have had no experience in campaigning to a concert crowd before this. Of course, I have heard all the positive feedback of campaigning to these kind of crowd, and yet to experience it on my own, I wasn't so sure of what to expect.
But anyhow, looking forward for the day(and being a fan of U2 does help!), we all met up at the Wembley park station at 14:00 hr (and I have to say, I was the last person to reach, sadly, not very proud of it myself!).It was about 9/10 of us, with Rex and me from Camden group, as far as I know, and forgive me if I have missed out your names unwittingly if there are any.
We were to sign up people for the Airplot campaign, outside the stadium for the first 1 (ish) hr.
I have to say it was absolutely fantastic, people were really nice I just couldn't believe it.Yep, definitely easier signing up happy people. Once we started campaigning inside the stadium, we had a bit of a glitch of where we were "allowed" to do our campaign. We didn't have much opportunity to do more Airplot as much as we would like to do, but I think we made a good effort in the first 1.5 hour-ish that we did. I can't remember the exact number of people we signed though, I'd guess roughly near 200 (Rex, any idea?).
I suppose in the end though, the tide did turn in our favour as we were allowed in to watch concert even, and play a small part in the actual concert itself!(I know!) We were masked Aung Suu Kyi, in dedication to the "Amazing Heroine of Burma" for the song "Walk on".I say, what more can you ask, a noble deed, a noble cause and a pretty noble band!
A beautiful day!
