An eventful meeting...

Notes from Camden Greenpeace's May monthly meeting (oh yeah and the announcement of our new “greenest government ever” PM, and the first coalition government in decades...)

 Three pronged summary:

1) Last month: awesome! We've done loads of stuff: Asking the Climate Question to our PPCs making sure climate change was a top election issue in our constituency, including late night cleanpeace action; Jenna's storming efforts getting hundreds of anti-Trident letters signed; and Neil continues his media stardom by getting his left knuckle on ITV news at 10 grasping a 'Take Back Parliament' placard.

2) It's summer and we've got awesome campaigns – Trident and Deforestation [update: see awesome news about Kitkat success and our next target for saving orangutans and rainforest from palm oil] some key dates for your diary:

  • This weekend saw a brilliant start to the Tar Sands campaign in Camden
  • Sunday 6th June: Camden Greenfair! 12 – 6. Let Neil or Laura know if you can help out for some of the day. Lots of exciting stuff as well as a campaign stall including tbc taking part in the village games dressed as orangutans.
  • TBC this weekend – more Tar Sands - keep an ear out or contact Neil if you'd like to organise a stall
  • Saturday 12th June – Greenpeace London Skillshare. More details to follow but put it in your diary.

3) We were rudely interrupted by the news that David Cameron had gone to see the Queen. Then we had another pint and contemplated the moderating effect of the Lib Dems and no third runway at Heathrow and it all seemed a bit better.

Other notes from meeting:

Present: Neil, Alex, Lorenzo, Jamie, Michael, Jenna, Sabrina, Carlos, Andy, Rex, Kate, Laura. Welcome new people!
