"Let's call the whole thing off" - Why Waitrose should #DumpShell

Posted by Neil Jones - 3 December 2012 at 2:51pm - Comments

It's a bit more expensive than other supermarkets, but I've never minded that because I know that their products are reasonably ethically sourced and I've always thought of them as a relatively green company. I simply couldn't believe it when I heard they were going in to partnership with Shell, opening shops in their petrol stations.

Yep, Waitrose and Shell. The nice green supermarket and the reckless Arctic oil drilling super giant. Beauty and the beast? No, there can be no happy ending to this relationship. Industry experts have admitted that an Arctic oil spill is not a case of if, but when. And Shell's track record leaves much to be desired. It's time for Waitrose to say "It's not me, it's you" and #DumpShell.

So yesterday, some friends and I went down to Waitrose in Islington to let other customers know about Waitrose's toxic business partner. Check out the video below to see how we got on. Then email Waitrose here: http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/waitrose
