The Trident campaign is really important to me so I was pleased when Jamie agreed to take this to Bloomsbury. Unfortunately the heavy rain made this a difficult task but we did get a number of petitions signed by those who are diametrically opposed to spending £97 billion on a new nuclear weapons programme. One alternative suggested was to spend this on higher education.
The high for me was taking the initiative and asking someone in the supermarket queue if they thought it was a good idea or not. When he said not a good idea I asked if he'd like to take the petition home to sign. He'd signed it before I'd paid for my free range turkey and organic milk and added that this was the most useful thing he'd ever done in a supermarket queue.
It's this warm cosy feeling that makes up for all the other people who say they don't care about climate change.
