Our Airplot Tree - One Year On

Posted by Neil Jones - 13 November 2010 at 7:29pm - Comments

It's been a whole year since we planted this little tree in Swiss Cottage. It was twinned with the Airplot in Sipson, which was at the centre of a massive and successful campaign to stop the expansion of Heathrow airport.

So today, a few of us from the Camden Greenpeace Network went to visit the tree, where we met Brian and Elizabeth, who helped us plant two trees a year ago along with local politicians and prospective MPs. Since then, our two little trees have grown into an entire orchard and award winning edible garden (taking the gold cup at this year's Camden in Bloom competition). Brian Crow and his team have looked after our trees and grown a fantastic garden around them, providing fruit and vegetables, as well as a peaceful and pleasant place to be for the local residents.

Many thanks to the Taplow Gardening Club and the Swiss Cottage Community Garden, for their support for the Airplot campaign and their ongoing support for Greenpeace.
