After an eventful morning, the Taplow Tenants’ Association’s Gardening Club welcomed us to their newly refurbished home on the ground floor of their 23 floor block. The press had arrived, as had our special guests - Prospective MPs Chris Philp (Conservative) and Ed Fordham (Lib Dem), and local councillor Alexis Rowell (Lib Dem). We tucked in to Jenna’s fantastic homemade tarts as we made our introductions, and put the spotlight on to the politicians to highlight their eco credentials and their firm opposition to airport expansion. Chris Philp even came up with the interesting idea of introducing a new tax on domestic flights, and cutting the cost of rail travel. A Tory policy in the making? We’ll have to wait and see.
The unexpected sunshine beckoned us outside, and we got to work digging. The first two trees of the Taplow orchard were planted in pride of place at the front of the building, for all to see. Some great photos followed, which you can see here.
The clouds began to blow over and the sky turned to a dark shade of grey as we headed south to our second tree planting...
