What better way of spending a dreech Tuesday evening? (i.e. here are the meeting notes)

Nothing like a Greenpeace meeting involving Jenna's marvellous home baking and a few pints with lovely people to brighten up a soggy Tuesday evening in August. Even if this was supposed to be our postponed summer picnic! Here are some highlights from our small-ish but perfectly formed get together last week.

Main dates for your diary coming up are this Sunday 22nd August (stall at London Permaculture Festival) and 28th August (Heathrow no third runway celebration party)

1) A MONTH OF BP CAMPAIGNING
Camden Greenpeace has had an exciting month with more BP campaigning with Camden activists delivering our banners - lovingly created over the summer with hundreds of messages  - to BP’s headquarters in Picadilly check out a few photos on fb http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/photo.php?pid=13832461&o=all&op=1&view=all&subj=8917486003&aid=-1&id=566780383&fbid=10150237767755384 and some of our group taking part in the awesome action to shut down BP’s petrol stations across London, and getting in the media spotlight none the less  http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/bp/index.html

2) TAKE ACTION TO STOP DIRTY FUELS!
Email Theresa Villiers, Secretary of State for Transport,  to push for a strong EU law to limit climate wrecking fuels (and to counteract BP’s greasy lobbyists trying to water it down!) here too  http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/bp/index.html

3) HELP WITH OUR CAMDEN STALL THIS SUNDAY @ LONDON PERMACULTURE FEST

This Sunday 22nd August volunteers are needed for our stall at the London Permaculture Festival in Camden (Cecil Sharpe House) if enough of us help we’ll all have plenty of time to check out the rest of the stalls, workshops and talks :-) Doodle here www.doodle.com/ingm6mq6by2pikfz  If you're musical they're keen for people to bring their instruments for some impromptu tunes earlier in the day.  I'll be sticking around for a beer or two and the Northern Celts at 8pm...  Programme here http://londonpermaculturalists.ning.com/group/londonpermaculturefestival

4) GETTING THOSE NEW MPS WRAPPED AROUND OUR LITTLE GREEN FINGERS
Quite a bit of work with our new (ish) MPs coming up, including a mass lobby  as part of Stop Climate Chaos on 5th and /or 6th November, so stick dates in your diary and if you’re keen on some fun and free training on lobbying your MPs provided by Greenpeace then email lobbying@greenpeace.org   next London date is 25th September and should be others nearby too. You don’t need to be trained to lobby your MP but it’s helpful and the offer’s open.

We’ll probably be focussing our lobbying might on Glenda Jackson (Hampstead and Kilburn) and Frank Dobson (Holborn and St Pancras) so if you live in either of these constituencies please drop Laura a wee email at your convenience and before 9th Sept.

5) ON THE CAMPAIGN RADAR: BEYOND OIL
The BP tar sands campaign is morphing into Beyond Oil campaign - all very exciting some stuff we’ll be getting involved with very soon so keep an ear out, and in the meantime where is the Esperanza going?! www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/gobeyondoil/index.html

6) SOMETIMES WE WIN! 3RD RUNWAY VICTORY PARTY 28 AUG
Greenpeace is organisding a presence at the 3rd runway victory party on Saturday 28th August, from 2pm till 7pm. If you want to volunteer that’d be fab too - from 1.30pm but you get a very funky (although far too bright for my liking) t-shirt designed by Airside, lunch and travel expenses - if you do let Laura know by Sunday 22rd August.

Please add comments below if you wish - including if I’ve missed stuff out of this note; sure I have!
