Direct Action

Direct Action Works.

Here is the proof. Last year I was arrested, along with 19 other Greenpeace activists, for shutting down a Shell station. In February I was convicted of Criminal Damage and put on a conditional discharge for a year. I was warned that this conviction might affect my ability to get insurance. So, this week my house insurance was up for renewal and I thought I'd better tell my insurer (First Direct, if you're interested) about the conviction. They told me that they wouldn't insure me and that I had 14 days to find another insurer.

So, I called the Co-op, who told me that the conviction didn't matter, said not to worry, gave me better insurance, and the premium was £120 cheaper!

Who says direct action doesn't work?

Oh, and Shell aren't drilling in the Arctic this year!!!
