Anti Fracking Meeting in Swansea

Posted by NigelBaker - 15 February 2012 at 9:16pm - 5 Comments
Want this for Swansea Bay?

Worried about Shale Gas Extraction and Gasification?

Come along to hear the facts and find out why people are becoming concerned about these new technologies.
With plans for Coal Seam Gasification in Swansea Bay, the prospect of “fracking” (Hydraulic Fracturing) in Mawr and other areas of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot already licensed by the UK government as suitable for methane extraction, it look like the Swansea Bay area could become the fossil fuel capital of Wales if developers have their way!
Meeting to be held at:
Tuesday 6th March 7.30pm
The Environment Centre
Pier Street, Swansea, SA1 1RU

Free entry – all welcome

Meeting organised by Swansea Friends of the Earth and Swansea Green Party

We live near ogmore vale where three extraction licences exist. We have a link for a petition which could result in this issue being debated in the house of lords. We hope this is of interest.

Watch GASLAND if you want further information about what Shale Gas extraction and Fracking could mean to you.

I knew nothing about this, or the meeting @ Pier Street. So disappointed I missed this, howevever, a friend did attend and has passed on some leaflets to me. Is it OK to post them where people will see them?

I would have thought so. Maybe you could scan them and put them on a link. We went to a meeting in Ogmore vale recently and there is alot of good work being done by the co-operative. Look up some of their leaflets online.
