There are better investments to be made than WMD

Invest in saving the Planet, not destroying it...

The First Minister has told us that he'd be happy to have Trident nuclear submarines based in Wales if an independent Scotland took the (very wise) decision to make it's territory free of nuclear weapons. He cites job creation as his reason for being so enthusiastic. Surely there are better ways of job creation than weapons of mass destruction? And indeed there are! We can invest in Windfarms, Tidal Lagoons, Solar Panels and Energy Efficiency.

In Scotland renewable energy production has increased by 45% this year alone and 11,000 people are employed in renewables-proof that 'covering Wales with turbines' would not be the end but a new beginning. In ultra prosperous Germany nearly half the energy produced last weekend was by solar power. Even the anti- wind minority have  finally discovered the joys of tidal energy-I can't wait to see them turn up at anti barrage protests to tell the objectors they are just mindless nimbies and they ought to grow up and be sensible about renewables! Still at least they have finally found an energy source to believe in which is more than can be said for Russell George the conservative spokesperson who couldn't find the courage to step out of his dreamworld and name a clean and green energy source he is prepared to support. Are we to assume the future is powered by empty tory slogans? We can have a clean green collar economy that the majority will be happy to support, we just need a First Minister and a an Assembly Government who are prepared to invest in saving the planet not destroying it....
