Colchester Greenpeace at Cambridge Skillshare

Posted by DavidTraynier - 17 January 2010 at 9:34pm - 0 Comments

This Saturday (Jan 16th), members of Colchester Greenpeace travelled to Cambridge to a skill share event hosted by Richard Martin at the Friends Meeting House on Jesus Lane. As well as Colchester, the Greenpeace groups from Ipswich and Cambridge were also represented.

The agenda for the day included an informal lunch at a nearby pub followed by several discussion sessions. These included a roundtable update on how each group has fared during the previous year followed by a presentation by Richard on the performance of Greenpeace nationally during 2009 and a look forward to campaigns for 2010.

After this, we discussed ways in which we might better cooperate as a regional network, including communication, mutual support, and stategies for media engagement.

The afternoon officially closed with a workshop on recruitment and retention during which we considered every stage of the recruitment process in order to find better ways to attract -and keep- new members.

Once the official agenda was complete, Cambridge Greenpeace took us on a brief pub tour and we finished the day with drinks.

Thanks to Richard Martin for organising the day, the Cambridge Quakers for hosting, and to Peter Appleton for organising transport for the Colchester contingent.
