Greenpeace talk at Colchester Institute

Posted by DavidTraynier - 21 February 2010 at 4:41pm - 2 Comments

On the 9th of February, Catherine Duxbury of the Colchester Institute very kindly invited David Traynier of Colchester Greenpeace to speak to students working towards an introductory diploma in Health and Social Care.

David spoke to the students, all in their late teens, on the history of environmentalism and of the Greenpeace organisation. It was a lively session with plenty of engagement and challenging questions from the students (especially Sam!). In particular, there was a very useful and spontaneous discussion of the ethics of direct action and civil disobedience, not only within the environmentalist movement but within the history of civil and political struggle generally.

David would like to thank course leader Catherine and all her students for lively and stimulating debate and the opportunity to spread awareness of Greenpeace's work.
