Before the love

I knew the Stormtrooper costumes were realistic after my involvement in the Launch of the VW campaign in June but I did not really realise the effect they can have on the public at large.

We arranged for a campaign stall in town and I knew I had to dress up, that seemed no problem. I had full confidence in my fellow activists to convey the campaign messages and to ensure everybody was comfortable. I had dressed up before...Homer Simpson....Chickens...but not until I put the Costume on did I realise why Stormtroopers were so tall. So with much discomfort and pinching of places I dare not mention we arrived at the campaign site.

Then I started having fun, waving always raised a smile at least, people inisted I waved at them, high fives for the younger generation. Lots of photos, but the fee was a signing of the card, which all were happy to do. Their normal reservations had been broken down and they were willing to listen and respond. There were lots of comments about my height, Lightwind Trooper was my favourite, but my bestest moment was when a small child rushed up to me a cuddled me and said "I love you!". She was below where I could see but those words made me smile.

We had a fantastic afternoon, hundreds of signatures, and a lot of smiles.
