A very young supporter

With the sun shining, a brand new table and resources desperate to be used, Cornwall group were roused from our winter hibernation last Saturday.

As we laid out all our papers, sweets and stickers, clear factions were formed over our favoured Arctic animal; Vicki was team walrus, Helen was rooting for the polar bear, Rose picked the snowy owl and I (Becky) chose the narwhal – majestic unicorn of the sea. Colin had all other bases covered so no creature was left out!

Rose was the designated photographer, and on her first campaign stall with us too! It wasn't long before people began showing an interest and she was set to work.

While some passers-by were keen to hold up a speech bubble for us, we had inadvertently set up camp opposite one of Falmouth's well-known resident's dancing spots. With moves being busted to artists from PSY to the Beatles, people generally didn't seem keen on having their focus drawn from the enthusiastic chap for us to grab a quick snapshot!

As usual we had a wide variety of people coming to visit the stall, which is always lovely! Some had seen our event on Facebook and had wanted to pop down, others were drawn in by the word “Arctic” and wanted to know more. One girl made a beeline for us at the mere mention of narwhals – she seemed to love them even more than me! We also got a snap of little Theo who, at 6 months old, may be our youngest supporter to date!

By the time we packed up we had got 42 pictures of people all showing that they <3 Arctic. Overall people seemed to prefer nabbing a sticker over a sweet after they had had their photo taken – which we were a little surprised at – but it was great walking down the street and seeing people emblazoned with Arctic foxes and loveheart logos.

Once again thanks to everyone that helped out in one way or another. This is just the beginning folks – keep a look out for further shenanigans this year. 2013, we're coming to getcha!
