Helen Waiting to talk

We arrived at one of the three Shell petrol stations in Cornwall mid Friday afternoon. Colin went to the station to deliver his letter and speak to the manager, he was met with a very unfriendly welcolme and told that he was not allowed on the forecourt. With reassurances that we would stay on the public highway he was dismissed with a flea in his ear. The entrance to the garage was straight off a roundabout which Helen used all her experience to give as many leaflets away as safely as possible. but this was not recognised by one man who aggresively told her she was going to cause an accident. The garage forecourt soon became empty as our presence seemed to put people off visiting. Many people sped into the garage without stopping but some returned to collect a leaflet and others stopped on the way out and spoke to Vicki to collect their leaflet. In the meantime Zoe and Emily (her baby) were given leaflets to passers by. As we were about to leave Colin gave a leaflet to a driver but he had to go into the forecourt to safely do so and was quickly reprimanded over the PA system to get off. In all a satisfying start to the campaign and we are looking forward to doing more in the coming months.
