We are organising a local activity as part of the Greenpeace global day of solidarity this Saturday October 5th, to encourage our supporters and people from across civil society to show their support for the Arctic 30 – our 28 activists plus the freelance photographer and videographer who were there to document the action - all of whom are currently being detained in Russia for an initial two months, under investigation for piracy which carries a maximum 15 year penalty. We will have photographs of some of the Arctic 30 and we will be encouraging people to write messages of support on white paper doves which will then be sent to the activists in Murmansk.
