While cuts are being made to public services, why is money being spent on weapons we neither want or need?

Last Saturday morning 3 of us spent a rather chilly couple of hours finding out how the good people of Ripley felt about renewing Trident. It turned out that 91% of the people who responded would prefer the money to be spent on health, education and other essential services. One lady went so far as to say that she thought that nuclear weapons are “really dangerous”. The results have been conveyed to the local paper and to local M.P. Judy Mallaber – we await a response!
